Frequently
Asked
Questions

If you have any questions about Samuel's coaching, you're sure to find the answer below; if your question isn't there, please feel free to send in your question and Samuel will answer you ASAP.

I've never had coaching before, am I eligible for coaching?

Of course! Samuel coaches any and everyone, whether you're a total beginner or you've had a million lessons in the past!

The only thing he asks is that you commit to your lessons and make the most of it!

Do I have to take regular lessons?

Samuel always recommends consistency when it comes to learning or developing a new skill, but it's totally up to you. You can book classes as regularly as you like. Samuel wants the classes to suit you and your schedule  or lifestyle.

Why should I train with Samuel Thomas at Big Voices Coaching?

Samuel is an award winning actor & singer, with ten years working in the professional industry and ten years experience as a coach; you can be well assured you will be working with someone who really knows how to get the most out of your voice as a singer, or speaker, and equally knows how to get the most out of you as an acting student.

How long do I need to take lessons to become highly skilled?

Everyone is different and everyone has different goals, which requires a different amount of lessons. Samuel is happy to coach you as long as you need or want. Truthfully, the best actors, singers and speakers in the world keep constant and consistent coaching going throughout their careers.

Where are you based?

All in-person coaching takes place in Chertsey, about 10 minutes drive from Woking.

All coaching sessions are offered online, if unable to attend in-person.

Will you travel to teach? And how far will you travel?

Yes- Samuel is happy to come to you, if it's more convenient. This will of course affect the cost in order to cover travel expenses. Samuel typically won't travel more than 10 miles.

Can I cancel my class?

Samuel understands that plans change and the need to cancel a class can arise. Samuel asks that you give a minimum of 24 hours notice in order to receive a full refund. Anything within the 24 hours notice, he will be unable to offer a refund, but he can offer a change of date/ time for the session.

Do you offer classes as gifts?

Absolutely! Samuel believes any of his classes make a perfect gift for someone you think would benefit from one of his classes. You can purchase a gift card from the booking page.

Do you offer any discounts to students?

Samuel currently offers 25% off all our classes for new students. Your first lesson will be eligible for 25% off, after that you will be subject to pay full price for any further bookings.

I've had previous coaching, am I still okay to take lessons?

Absolutely! Samuel loves working with people, whether they've had lot's of coaching in the past, or if they've never even dreamt of coaching until now. Samuel will always make sure he caters his coaching to suit your specific needs, whether you are already relatively skilled or knowledgeable about your chosen class.

Do you teach in schools?

Samuel doesn't currently do this, but Samuel is highly experienced teaching in schools and would love to offer this soon.

Which duration should I choose for my classes?

Samuel offers 30, 45 and 60 minute lessons to cater to everybody, so it's entirely up to you. Samuel usually recommend a minimum of 45 minutes for any in-person classes, just so you get the most out of your class.

I can't read music, is this a problem for singing lessons?

Absolutely not! Whilst it is helpful to read music when learning to sing, it is not a requirement and who knows, you might even learn to read it during the course of your lessons with us.

What do I need to bring to my first singing/ acting/ public speaking/ voice lesson?

Usually, Samuel asks you to bring something that shows you off at your current level. For example, for singing lessons, it's useful to bring a song you know well and feel comfortable singing. For acting, you can bring a monologue/ speech you are familiar with or enjoy etc...

I want to book for a one off session, to prepare for a specific event or audition. Is this possible?

Of course, Samuel is more than happy to work with you to prepare for your specific event, even if you just need someone to be a soundboard and offer some helpful advice and tips.
